The search on the homepage has been a big focus of our recently, and we're still going strong.
After recently improving the popularity search speed by about 10,000 time, we've added a 'did you mean...' function.
If we don't find anything matching your search, we'll make 'metaphone' of it, and see if we have anything with a matching metaphone in our database, and if we do, suggest it to you.
Handy, much?!
You'll now see a new section on the homepage, called 'Special Offers'. This gives you an even easier way to discover great deals and find tasty food!
Flick through them all to find the one that suits you!
Also, when looking at a takeaway's menu, at the top, if the takeaway has special offers, is a link to see them. Click it, and you'll get a list of all that takeaways offers!
We think sorting the dishes by how popular they are is a great idea, but as the activity on the site grew and grew, the search got slower and slower.
We didn't like that.
We've massively improved the performance of this search, infact, it is over ten thousand times faster! No, literally. It only takes about 0.0022 sec to search by popularity now. Enjoy.
Well, not long after adding the new popular extras section, we've already improved it!
Now it's garnished with sumptuous pictures of the dish.
OK, it's not pictures of the actual dish, so what you get will vary from the picture, but you get the idea
Ever ordered a lovely meal and realised when it arrived, you forgot to add the drinks?
Well, to help remind you next time you order, when you look at a dish, you'll notice the section below it offers some 'extras' that you might like to add to your order. A bag of chips, some garlic bread, or maybe some drinks, for example.
The extra dishes are always from the takeaways list of recommended extras, so you know it's definitely available from the takeaway your browsing.
